DOLLAR SPOT & SPRING DEAD SPOT are the most common of the lawn diseases which affect PERTH lawns. There are quite a number of different funguses, but most can be treated the same. Saying that, fungus problems can take a fair bit to control, with numerous applications of Fungicides over the Spring-Autumn periods.
ONE way to try and minimize the problem, is to turn on the reticulation every morning for about 2-5 minutes on the dewy mornings, when the fungus spores are active.
This will wash them off the grass leaf before the sun warms up.

If you constantly mow your lawn without a catcher, the clippings that build up can smother the turf, which in turn can cause fungus problems.

BLACK BEETLE

The poor old Black Beetle gets blamed for a lot of lawn problems. None of the above are caused by him. Lawn Beetle damage looks similar to the photo below, however, lawn scalping from too much Thatch and lack of water can give the same effect.
